La Marchesa Course

Charm and Tradition

The La Marchesa course was designed by Cornish & Silva Inc. Golfcourse Architects USA.

It is set in an area of more than 110 hectares against the scenic backdrop of verdant forests and the swift moving Albedosa stream.

It has 18 holes, a total length of 6,365 metres and par 72. The course lies in a level area with plenty of space. Holes 10, 11 and 12 form the “Amen Corner” of the course, which test players’ concentration and leave little room for error

Hole 1

Raised tees with a water hazard on the right. A bunker where the drive lands

The second shot to the green is protected by no less than four bunkers and a water hazard just beyond the green.

The green is flat on the left side, while two different slopes on the right make it particularly challenging.

Hole 2 PAR 5 HCP 8

A water hazard runs along the right side up to the green, while a copse on the left creates a slight dog-leg and protects the driver's landing area.

The second shot to the green is protected by a bunker on the left and a cluster of walnut trees to the right.

The third shot to the green is guarded by four side bunkers and one at the back. The green, surrounded by a series of mounds, is slightly uphill and two slopes to the right makes it difficult.

Hole 3 PAR 3 HCP 16

This par 3 with a raised green and a pond below the tees makes it challenging for novices.i.

The shot to the green is particularly difficult due to three bunkers and the shape of the green which runs across the line to the hole.

The green is long, but not very wide with a steep slope to the left that makes putting very tricky.

Hole 4 PAR 4 HCP 2

A very long par 4, with a left dog-leg and an uphill finish to the green.

The shot to the green is protected by a large bunker to the right.

The green is small and slopes downwards to the out of bounds area.

Hole 5 PAR 3 HCP 14

The first shot can range from easy or particularly delicate and demanding, depending on the position of the tee.

Two bunkers protect the long and narrow green..

A steep slope runs from the centre towards the edges and makes putting especially challenging.

Hole 6 PAR 4 HCP 4

A very long par 4 left dog-leg bordered by a water hazard up to the green.

The shot to the green is protected by four bunkers, the first at about 60 metres on the left of the fairway, while the others surround the green on three sides.

The left bunker prevents long balls from running towards the water hazard. The green is flat and easy.

Hole 7 PAR 4 HCP 18

A very short par 4, with a bunker on the right of the fairway and four more on the left at about 80 metres from the green, protecting the driver’s landing area. The green is defended by 2 bunkers on the right side and features a steep slope to the left.

Hole 8 PAR 5 HCP 6

A par 5 with the tee-shot protected by a bunker on the right, initially with a slight right dog-leg and ends with a sharper turn to the left.
The fairway is bordered by a lake on the left, all the way up to the green.
The second and third shots need precision. The green is flat with a slight slope to the right and is well defended by a lake and two bunkers.

Hole 9 PAR 4 HCP 12

A slight left dog-leg. The fairway is divided in two by a path, which makes the tee shot particularly tricky.
The view of the shot to the green on the left side of the fairway is narrow and obstructed by three bunkers.
The green is well defended by two bunkers on the left with a challenging slope on the right.

Hole 10 PAR 5 HCP 9

A pronounced left dog-leg with a water hazard that requires a perfect centre tee shot.
The second shot is challenging, due to a river crossing the fairway.
The narrow fairway is boarded on the left by a water hazard and a bunker on the right about 85 metres from the green. The green is protected by two bunkers on the left.

Hole 11 PAR 4 HCP 1

A slight downhill right dog-leg, with out of bounds on the left and a water hazard on the right.
The green is well defended by two front bunkers and surrounded by the striking scenery of ancient birch trees.

Hole 12 PAR 3 HCP 11

Certainly the most beautiful and technical of all the holes.
Raised tees, a water hazard along the side with a river cutting diagonally across the fairway to the back of the green.
The green is protected by two bunkers on the left.

Hole 13 PAR 4 HCP 3

A long par 4 with treacherous rough and dense vegetation on the left. A bunker on the right complicates the tee shot.
The fairway is uphill on the shot from the tee, while it goes slightly downhill on the second shot. The green is elevated and protected by a bunker on the left.

Hole 14 PAR 4 HCP 15

A short but very technical hole, especially for the tee shot especially due to a water hazard that runs alongside it to the green.
A precision tee shot is also needed due to the presence of bunkers on both sides of the fairway. The green is defended at the front by two bunkers and is tricky due to a steep slope towards the back.

Hole 15 PAR 5 HCP 5

The longest hole on the course requires a drive right down the centre to avoid the bunkers (a large one on the left and two not so large on the right) and frequent headwinds add to the challenge. The green is elevated and well defended by another four bunkers.
