Paradiso Course

Technical and entertaining

The first nine holes were opened in 2006, while in 2014 work was completed on the second
nine holes which made Villa Carolina one of just a few Italian Clubs with two 18 hole championship courses, to give a total of 36 holes.
The Paradiso is a highly technical course which requires great precision.
The course differs from the La Marchesa Course because it is rougher and the greens are more treacherous.
The Paradiso Course hosted the 40th PGAI championship from 20 to 23 September 2016.

Hole 1

A long par 4 with a difficult tee shot, featuring a water hazard on the right and woodland on the left.

Be careful not to end up on the left on the second shot where a bunker guards the green.
The green is small but undulating and especially difficult if the pin is on the left.

Hole 2

An uphill par 5. Aim to the right with the first shot to get a better view. Watch out on the second shot for the bunkers on the side of the fairway at about 100 metres from the green.

The entrance to the green is very narrow

Hole 3

A slight uphill left dog-leg. The green is large, but protected by two bunkers on the sides.
Be careful not to end up to the left from the tee, where the shot to the green would be from a very tall and thick rough

Hole 4

A very sharp par 4 left dogleg, with a water hazard running along the entire left side of the fairway.
A good tee shot will give a very wide view of the green which has no particular slopes.

Hole 5

A long par 3 with an elevated green. With a lateral water hazard to the left of the hole and a bunker below the green on the same side, it is important not to drive to the left from the tee.

Hole 6

A medium-length par 4, with a slight left dogleg. The fairway is undulating and the green is small and sloping protected by a bunker on the right.

Hole 7

A very long and challenging par 5, with a sharp right dogleg. Pay attention on the tee shot to the out-of-bounds on the right and then on the second shot to the lateral water hazard on the right, which protects a very narrow entrance to the green. A large green is split in half by a steep slope.

Hole 8

An uphill par 3 with a bunker on the right protecting the green and a waste area on the left running the length of the hole.

Hole 9

A medium-to-short uphill par 4, with a narrow fairway sloping to the right, a bunker on the right and a waste area on the left. A narrow green with many slopes, protected by a bunker on the right.

Hole 10

A breathtaking downhill par 4 with a fairway at the bottom of a steep slope. The first shot is like jump in the dark down into a rough fairway.
Beware of the lateral hazard on the right and the waste area on the left. The undulating green is protected by a bunker on the right

Hole 11

A par 5 with a right dogleg. A broad fairway with bunkers to the left and the waste area on the right along the entire hole. With a good tee shot, you could try a second shot onto the green. The entrance to the green is straight forward with no obstacles

Hole 12

A short uphill par 3 with a wide, but very tricky green due to many slopes. An out-of-bounds area runs along the entire length of the hole on the right..

Hole 13

A delicate medium-length par 4. There are two hazards to face with the tee shot, a lake to the right for the long hitters and a central bunker, in the middle of the fairway, for shorter hitters. The approach to the green is then well defended by a bunker. A very narrow green with few slopes.

A slight right dogleg with a difficult tee shot due to the water hazards on the left and right together with two fairway bunkers. A tight entrance to the green with a bunker on the left defending it.

Hole 15

A medium length par 5 with a tee shot protected by trees on both sides of the fairway. On the second shot the hole has a sharp right dogleg with a water hazard to the right of the fairway before the green. The approach to the green is very narrow and well defended by bunkers on the right.

Hole 16

An uphill par 3 with a very wide undulating green, well protected however on the left by a tree partially covering it and a bunker.

Hole 17

A par 5 with bunkers on both sides of the fairway and two bunkers near the green.
The second and third shots are not particularly difficult and the green is wide.

Hole 18

A short par 3 with a bunker protecting the left side of the green and an out-of-bounds to the right running the length of the hole
